Hi, my name is
Pim van Leeuwen
Problem solver, always looking for a challenge.
I'm a software engineer passionate about building reliable, scalable, and well-designed systems. Furthermore, I am equally passionate about the people, processes, and communities that make technology meaningful.
01.About Me
I am a software engineer driven by a passion for building reliable, scalable, and thoughtfully designed systems. What excites me most about technology isn't just the code, it's the problems that we can solve using them. I am mainly interested at the intersection of software engineering and the human impact and problem solving.
My background blends deep technical knowledge with hands-on experience across multiple environments. I have contributed to ICT operations at my university, supported engineering teams, and mentored and coordinated students, giving instructions for courses. These experiences strengthened my communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, and taught me how to navigate technical challenges.
During my academic journey, culminating in a Cum Laude Bachelor and a Master's in Computer Science, I explored a wide range of technologies. I have built systems using Vue, Laravel, and Docker; worked with infrastructure in a startup-like setting; and conducted research in C++ and OpenCL, including GPU-accelerated parallel reductions. Outside of formal work, I enjoy learning through yearly Advent of Code challenges and experimenting with languages such as Python, Rust, and modern C++.
I also bring extensive leadership experience from roles in sports and student organizations, serving in positions ranging from chairman to secretary. These responsibilities helped me grow as a team leader, stakeholder communicator, and reliable organizer. These skills translate naturally into day-to-day environments.
Beyond my technical life, I care deeply about community and safety. I volunteer regularly at the Red Cross, training to become a first responder at events. Helping others and learning new things in the process is an important part of who I am.
Overall, I'm motivated by continuous learning, collaboration, and the opportunity to create software that is robust, elegant, and meaningful. I aim to contribute to teams that value craftsmanship, empathy, and long-term thinking, and I'm always looking for opportunities to grow while making a positive impact.
Here are a few technologies I've been working with recently:
- Python
- C++
- Java
- Dart/Flutter
- Docker
- Microsoft Admin
